The foundation of Building Hope is the focal point of work during the week of Father’s Day, June 19 to 26, 2011.

Excavation of the building’s foundation areas continues and trucks will be hauling the excess soil offsite later in the week.

Crews continue to install the electrical conduit and plumbing lines that lie beneath the foundation and work continues to create the formwork for the building’s footings and foundation walls.

Crews are using a technique called “shotcrete” to make the foundation. Shotcrete involves spraying wet concrete through a hose into the forming surface. Look for a post later this week to get some “concrete” details about the foundation and how much material is needed to create it!

You can follow each week’s construction activities at the Weekly Construction Bulletin. Updates are posted every Monday.
