Building Cure Early Morning Site Activities the Week of July 3

Large concrete pump trucks will be staged at the Building Cure site in downtown Seattle the afternoon of July 5 to prepare for foundation placement beginning July 6 at 2 a.m. Concrete trucks are expected between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. to pour about 1,000 cubic yards of concrete into the foundation before rush hour. Trucks will enter the site from Stewart Street and exit on Virginia Street. Please pay close attention to flaggers and signage during these activities.

Building Cure will erect its second tower crane on Saturday, July 8. A noise variance is issued for work to begin at 3:30 a.m. Beginning at 7 a.m., tower crane segments will be laid out and stacked into place from the project laydown yard. Two police officers will be onsite to direct traffic. We do not anticipate impacts to pedestrian or vehicular traffic while the tower crane is erected, aside from brief stops to allow loads to enter the jobsite.

The tower crane will be in place for about 16 months and will be used to move materials like formwork for the structure, reinforcing steel, equipment, job boxes for the crews, and other construction support items and activities.

Improvements to Path Between 44th Ave. NE and Seattle Children’s Campus Begin July 5

To improve safety, and as part of Seattle Children’s Major Institution Master Plan (MIMP), construction will begin on a new path connecting Seattle Children’s campus to 44th Ave. NE. It will take about four weeks to complete. During construction there will be some trucks parked nearby, for the shortest time possible to perform necessary work; construction will only take place between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. As much as possible, parking and construction will take place on Seattle Children’s property. The existing path will remain until the new one is constructed. External Drilling on West Side of Seattle Children’s Campus Starting July 5

Starting Wednesday, July 5, a private geotechnical company will drill six large holes at different locations on the west side of the Seattle Children’s campus to take soil samples. Each drilling will take about a day to complete. They will bring in a large drill rig to complete the work, and there will be some noise and possible vibration. Tower Crane to Be Installed at Building Cure Site on June 18
