Drill Rig on Hospital Campus from Sept. 21 to Oct. 9

As a part of preliminary work for Project Copper (the proposed surgery pavilion and parking garage) on the hospital campus, a geotechnical consultant will be onsite to collect soil samples using a drill rig. The work is scheduled for approximately three weeks between Sept. 21 to Oct. 9 and will be done during regular work hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Soil samples will be collected in Lot 4 and near the Ocean 7 staff entrance.

Construction noise will be generated during this work. The impact to neighbors is expected to be minimal; staff and patient families will likely hear the most noise. Expect to see large trucks and heavy equipment onsite, with some parking restrictions in Lot 4 during this work. Construction activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

Tree Work at Hospital Campus, Sept. 14 to Sept. 18

Tree Work at Hospital Campus, Sept. 14 to Sept. 18

Bartlett Tree Experts is scheduled to perform tree work at the Seattle Children’s hospital campus from Monday, Sept. 14, to Friday, Sept. 18. The work includes removing trees that are dying or hazardous, pruning healthy trees to remove dead or low branches, and removing branches leaning on structures.

Activities will take place throughout the hospital campus, including along the perimeters. Bucket trucks will temporarily park on the south side of NE 50th Street, the west side of 45th Avenue NE, and the north side of NE 45th Street. We do not expect any traffic impacts; the sidewalks, however, will be closed in those areas while work is underway.

Crews will use chainsaws and chippers, which will generate noise, each day from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. We expect this work will have minimal impact on the perimeter tree buffer.
