Tree Work at Hospital Campus, Feb. 25

On Thursday, Feb. 25, Bartlett Tree Experts will be onsite at Seattle Children’s Hospital campus to conduct tree and shrub pruning to improve safety. One dead hazardous tree will be removed.

The work will be performed in several locations along the perimeter of the hospital campus including NE 45th Street, NE 47th Street and behind the Sand Point Clinic along the Burke Gilman Trail. The trail connection from Sand Point Way and 40th Avenue NE to the Burke Gilman Trail may be closed temporarily during this work.

This work will produce some noise from chainsaws and chippers. Work will occur from 9 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m.

If you have questions, please contact Meghan Fuller, manager of Grounds Maintenance, at 206-307-6687.

Mulch Placement at Hospital Campus, Feb. 23

On Tuesday, Feb. 23, Pacific Topsoils will place mulch at Seattle Children’s hospital campus along the west side of 45th Avenue NE, south of the intersection with NE 47th Street. The mulch will be placed using a blower truck, which will be parked on the west side of 45th Avenue; although the truck will block the west travel lane, vehicles will still have room to drive past.

The blower truck will generate noise, and the mulch will generate some odors. If conditions are dry, the mulch placement could also create some dust. This work will occur from 9 a.m. to approximately 4:30 p.m.

If you have questions, please contact Meghan Fuller, manager of Grounds Maintenance, at 206-307-6687.

Update: Utility Work on Penny Drive and NE 50th Street Extended

Update: Utility potholing work will continue through Feb. 17, additional extensions may be needed.

A crew will conduct utility potholing along Penny Drive and two locations on NE 50th St near 44th Ave NE. The work is being done to identify utilities under the roadways to support the design for the proposed Surgery Building and Parking Garage.

A vacuum truck and a small crew will work weekdays from 7 am to 3:30 pm. Construction noise will be generated off and on during this work; noisy activities will not begin before 8 am. Traffic control will be set up around the work zones.

On NE 50th St, the work will require taking one traffic lane to accommodate utility trucks in the street. Parking restrictions will be in place and flaggers will be present during the work to direct drivers and pedestrians around the work zones.

On Penny Drive, two-way traffic will be maintained when possible, but at times Penny Drive will be reduced to one lane. The Mountain Loading Dock, Ocean 7 Staff Entrance and Lot 4 will all be temporarily impacted during this work. Access to Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be maintained at all times. Pedestrians and bikes will be rerouted. Please allow additional time for travel along Penny Drive during this work.

Please call 206-987-8000 or email [email protected] with questions.
