Upcoming Building Care Construction Activities: April 5 to April 11

There will be ongoing construction activity for Building Care at the hospital campus until the building opens in spring 2022. Seattle Children’s will publish a weekly post on this Construction Blog that outlines the work expected to occur the following week. We will also post to this blog whenever a construction activity will be especially impactful to neighbors.

From April 5 to April 11, construction crews are scheduled to perform the following activities:

  • Special note: On April 8, we will begin the first phase of reconfiguring the Emergency Department (ED) drop-off and drive aisle. The ED vehicular entrance will remain in the same location for now, but ED vehicles will no longer exit onto 40th Avenue NE; instead, they will be routed north through the hospital campus.
  • Build out interior spaces
  • Framing
  • Paint
  • Install metal sheeting and panels
  • Install and trim mechanical and electrical wiring and plumbing equipment
  • Install drywall
  • Install ceilings
  • Install flooring
  • Pressure washing
  • Form and pour concrete slabs
  • Demolish temporary power switchboard and temporary duct bank
  • Building connection work:
    • Paint and install doors and glass on level 3 of River C
    • Install and trim utility wiring, and install ceiling on level 7 of River C
    • Demolish walls, floors and ceilings; install utility wiring; and install windows on level 1 of Forest A

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. Expect heavy truck traffic. Construction activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

All work will take place within standard construction hours: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

From March 29 to April 4, construction crews are scheduled to perform the following activities:

  • Build out interior spaces
  • Framing
  • Paint
  • Install roofing
  • Install metal sheeting and panels
  • Install mechanical and electrical wiring and plumbing equipment
  • Install drywall
  • Install ceilings
  • Install flooring
  • Pressure washing
  • Form and pour concrete curbs, slabs, and stairs
  • De-energize temporary power and remove temporary power poles (Seattle City Light)
  • Building connection work:
    • Install carpets and doors on level 3 of River C
    • Install wall coverings on level 7 of River C
    • Demolish walls, floors and ceilings; trim utility wiring; and install seismic joint, sheeting, and fireproofing on level 1 of Forest A

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. Expect heavy truck traffic. Construction activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

  • Build out interior spaces
  • Framing
  • Paint
  • Install roofing
  • Install metal sheeting and panels
  • Install mechanical and electrical wiring and plumbing equipment
  • Install drywall
  • Install elevator equipment
  • Install ceilings
  • Install flooring
  • De-energize temporary electrical service and remove temporary power poles (Seattle City Light)
  • Demolish temporary duct bank and concrete pad
  • Install irrigation system
  • Form and pour concrete curbs, slabs, footings, and stairs
  • Building connection work:
    • Paint and install ceilings and flooring on level 3 of River C

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. The loudest external activities will be the demolishing of the temporary duct bank and concrete pad. Expect heavy truck traffic. Construction activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

All work will take place within standard construction hours: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

  • Install elevator equipment
  • Install ceilings
  • Install soil
  • Install flooring
  • De-energize temporary electrical service and remove temporary power poles (Seattle City Light)
  • Excavation and grading
  • Install irrigation system and drains
  • Pour footings
  • Building connection work:
    • Install flooring and metal column covers on level 3 of River C
    • Fireproofing, demolish walls and ceilings, and install sheeting and seismic joints on level 1 of Forest A
    • Trim utility wiring on level 9 of Forest A

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. Expect heavy truck traffic. The soil installation may generate moderate odors. Construction activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

All work will take place within standard construction hours: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
