Upcoming Building Care Construction Activities: April 26 to May 2

There will be ongoing construction activity for Building Care at the hospital campus until the building opens in spring 2022. Seattle Children’s will publish a weekly post on this Construction Blog that outlines the work expected to occur the following week. We will also post to this blog whenever a construction activity will be especially impactful to neighbors.

From April 26 to May 2, construction crews are scheduled to perform the following activities:

  • Build out interior spaces
  • Remove scaffolding
  • Paint
  • Install metal sheeting and panels
  • Install and trim mechanical and electrical wiring and plumbing equipment
  • Install drywall
  • Install ceilings
  • Install flooring
  • Form and pour concrete slabs, stairs, and walkway
  • Demolish asphalt and concrete
  • Excavation
  • Install oxygen line (near Emergency Department entrance)
  • Grading
  • Saw cut concrete and asphalt
  • Building connection work:
    • Demolish walls, floors, and ceilings; install utility wiring, windows, and siding on level 1 of Forest A

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. The saw cutting and demolishing of asphalt and concrete will generate the most noise. Expect heavy truck traffic. Construction activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

All work will take place within standard construction hours: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Tree Work at Hospital Campus, April 15

On Thursday, April 15, Bartlett Tree Experts will prune and remove hazardous trees between the Ocean parking garage and 45th Avenue NE. This work will occur between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The crew will use chainsaws and chippers, which will generate noise. We do not anticipate any transportation or parking impacts on 45th Avenue. The tree work is preventative landscaping maintenance and not related to any construction activity at the hospital campus.

If you have questions, please contact Meghan Fuller, manager of Grounds Maintenance, at 206-307-6687.
