Sidewalk Restoration on Sand Point Way Begins Aug. 2

Starting Monday, Aug. 2, the right lane of Sand Point Way NE northbound will be closed between 40th Avenue NE and Penny Drive while construction crews restore the sidewalk. Please use caution when driving in the construction zone. Pedestrians should use the crosswalks at Penny Drive and 40th Avenue to avoid the work area. Cones and signage will be in place. Upcoming Building Care Construction Activities: Aug. 2 to Aug. 8

There will be ongoing construction activity for Building Care at the hospital campus until the building opens in spring 2022. Seattle Children’s will publish a weekly post on this Construction Blog that outlines the work expected to occur the following week. We will also post to this blog whenever a construction activity will be especially impactful to neighbors.

From Aug. 2 to Aug. 8, construction crews are scheduled to perform the following activities:

  • Restore sidewalks on Sand Point Way (see separate July 26 Construction Blog post for details of this work)
  • Build out interior spaces
  • Paint
  • Elevator commissioning
  • Install flooring
  • Install soil and mulch
  • Plant landscaping
  • Install irrigation system
  • Install signs
  • Install steel structure at parking ramp canopy
  • Install wood deck
  • Building connection work:
    • Install flooring, ceilings, doors, wall coverings, and utility wiring on level 3 of River C
    • Remove infection prevention barriers on level 6 of River C
    • Paint and install ceilings, utility wiring, and signs on level 1 of Forest A
    • Install ceiling and clean on level 8 of Forest A

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. Expect heavy truck traffic. Construction activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

All work will take place within standard construction hours: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

    • Paint, clean, and remove infection prevention barriers on level 4 of River C
    • Install door controls and paint on level 5 of River C
    • Install door controls on level 6 of River C
    • Install doors and door controls on level 7 of River C
    • Paint, install flooring, and clean on level 1 of Forest A
    • Paint on level 8 of Forest A

    • Set up infection prevention barriers and install doors on level 7 of River C
    • Set up infection prevention barriers, demolish ceiling and flooring, framing, and install drywall on level 1 of Forest A
    • Clean and remove infection prevention barriers on level 7 of Forest A
    • Install door controls, demolish wall, framing, and install drywall on level 8 of Forest A
    • Install door controls, clean, and remove infection prevention barriers on level 9 of Forest A

Roof Work on River Building

Starting July 12 until late August, a roof replacement project on River 7 will require a crane to be located in the walkway between the Forest and River buildings. The crane will be brought in on NE 45th Street via the fire access road between the Forest and River buildings.

Signage will be provided to redirect pedestrians on campus north or south when exiting between the Forest or River buildings. Construction hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays. Please call 206-987-8000 or email [email protected] with questions.
