Tree Work at the Hospital Campus Feb. 22 to 24

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, through Friday, Feb. 24,  Bartlett Tree Experts will prune a number of trees throughout Seattle Children’s hospital campus. Work includes pruning for light, vehicle, and signage clearance, removal of dead limbs, two weed trees, and two failing trees, and structural pruning to reduce future issues. The majority of work will be completed from within campus, with the exception of some pruning along the sidewalk of NE 40th St, near the intersection with Sand Point Way NE. Neighbors may hear noise from chainsaws and chippers between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. If you have questions, please contact Meghan Fuller, manager of Grounds Maintenance, at 206-307-6687.

Boilers At Hospital Switching to Diesel

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) notified Seattle Children’s (along with other large institutions in the area) that we must reduce our natural gas usage until further notice while emergency repairs are made to the regional gas system. Boilers at the hospital campus will switch to diesel fuel this afternoon until Children’s is advised that we can switch back to natural gas. The boilers are critical for heating the hospital and powering steam production for sterile supplies. Nearby neighbors and workforce members may temporarily see and smell diesel fumes coming from the hospital during this time. For any questions or concerns, please contact [email protected].
