Tree Work at Hospital Campus July 31 to Aug. 4

On Monday, July 31, through Friday, Aug. 4, Bartlett Tree Experts will prune a number of trees throughout Seattle Children’s hospital campus. Work includes pruning for light, vehicle, pedestrian and building clearance; removal of dead limbs; failing or dead trees; and pruning to reduce weight on leaning trees. The majority of work will be completed from within campus, but some work will occur on trees along NE 45th Street, Sand Point Way, and NE 50th Street. Neighbors may hear noise from chainsaws and chippers between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The downhill (north) lane of NE 45th Street will be blocked for several hours the morning of Thursday, Aug. 3, with traffic management provided by Traffic Control Services.

Roof Replacement on Mountain Building

Starting July 17 and continuing through Oct. 31, a roof replacement project will be happening on the Mountain buildings at the hospital campus. After preparation and staging work starting in mid-June, the roofing work will happen at night during the hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. (Sunday to Thursday, and occasional Fridays and/or Saturdays). A noise variance was obtained from the City of Seattle for this work. Nighttime lighting will be directed downward and focused only on the work area for any specific night.

The Mountain building sits lower than the other surrounding buildings on campus, so noise and lighting should not be noticeable to neighbors during this work. Odors from the torch-applied roofing process can be expected during the work. There will be occasional crane and/or boom trucks near the Mountain loading dock to load/unload materials to the rooftop.
