Reminder: Asphalt Placement Scheduled for Oct. 4

Construction crews plan to place asphalt south of the Forest A (Friends of Costco) building, near the loading dock and 40th Avenue NE, on Friday, Oct. 4. This work will produce moderate noise and some odor. Please note this activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions. Building Care construction is underway. From now until building opening in Spring 2022, there will be ongoing construction activity at the hospital campus. Seattle Children’s will publish a weekly post on this Construction Blog that outlines the work expected to occur the following week. We will also post to this blog whenever a construction activity will be especially impactful to neighbors.

From Sept. 30 to Oct. 6, construction crews are scheduled to perform the following activities:

  • Activities south of Forest A (near the loading dock and 40th Avenue NE): place asphalt
  • Install rebar and pour concrete for walls, footings, columns, and slabs
  • Strip concrete
  • Set stairs in underground area
  • Activities on River level 7: frame and install walls at skybridge connection point
  • Internal activities: Reconfigure existing fire equipment on Forest A level 1

The asphalt placement is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4 and will create some odor.

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. Expect heavy truck traffic, primarily from concrete trucks. Construction activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

All work will take place within standard construction hours: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

From Sept. 23 to Sept. 29, construction crews are scheduled to perform the following activities:

  • Activities south of Forest A (near the loading dock and 40th Avenue NE): drill for rebar installation; pour concrete; prep for asphalt
  • Install rebar and pour concrete for walls, footings, columns, and slabs
  • Strip concrete
  • Activities on River level 7: install metal roof panels; demolish and saw cut curb; form and pour concrete slab; install door jamb, insulation and vapor barrier

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. The noisiest activities will be the work south of Forest A, which is scheduled for the entire week. Expect heavy truck traffic, primarily from concrete trucks. Construction activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

  • Waterproofing on exterior mock-up
  • Excavation
  • Backfill
  • Install conduits and pull cables
  • Install generators
  • Activities on River level 7: install roofing, metal panels, roof ladder, door jamb and insulation; frame and rough in walls

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. The noisiest activities will be the work south of Forest A, which is scheduled for the entire week. Expect heavy truck traffic, primarily from concrete trucks. Construction activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

  • Install rebar and pour concrete for walls, footings, columns, and slabs
  • Install windows and framing for exterior mock-up
  • Waterproofing for walls and slabs
  • Excavation
  • Backfill
  • Activities on River level 7: install sheeting, expansion joints, roofing and metal panels; demolish and saw cut curbs; form and pour slab

  • Activities on River level 7: install fireproofing and exterior sheeting

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. The noisiest activities will be the demolition and excavation south of Forest A, which is scheduled for the entire week.   • Install “lagging” to prevent cave-ins during earthwork
  • Backfill
  • Install electrical pathways
  • Install decks
  • Waterproofing for walls
  • Activities on River level 7: install framing, sheeting and roof drains

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. The noisiest external activities will be the saw cutting and demolition south of Forest A, which is scheduled for the entire week.   • Install rebar and pour concrete for curbs, walls, footings, columns, and pads/slabs
  • Pour pilaster
  • Waterproofing for walls
  • Backfill
  • Install “lagging” to prevent cave-ins during earthwork
  • Set up scaffold
  • Install electrical
  • Activities on River level 7: install steel, decking, ladder supports, framing and roof drains

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. The noisiest external activities will be the saw cutting south of Forest A, which is scheduled for Aug. 9 to Aug. 13. Expect heavy truck traffic, primarily from concrete trucks. Construction activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

From July 15 to July 21, construction crews are scheduled to perform the following activities:

  • Install rebar and pour concrete for curbs, walls, footings, columns, and pads/slabs
  • Install framing, sheeting, seismic joint, flashing and windows for exterior mock-up
  • Install drains, plumbing and electrical
  • Backfill excavated areas
  • Install scaffold
  • Install waterproofing for walls
  • Form pilaster
  • Activities south of Forest A (near the loading dock and NE 45th Street): excavation; install “lagging” to prevent cave-ins during earthwork; grade for footing; install rebar
  • Internal and external activities on River level 6: remove ceiling tiles; core drill for new vent location; move vent piping; patch roofing
  • Internal and external activities on River level 7: demolish siding; relocate downspout; saw cut and demolish parapet; drill and install rebar
  • Internal activities on L1 of Forest A (Friends of Costco Building): install seismic restraints; replace ceiling

Construction noise will be generated throughout the week. The noisiest external activities will be the concrete work, which will occur all week. The noisiest internal work will be the drilling. Expect heavy truck traffic, primarily from concrete trucks. Construction activity is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
