Over the next few weeks, the following construction projects will occur at Seattle Children’s as we continue to improve our facilities for our patients.
- Saturday, Oct. 24 from 8:05 a.m. to 4 p.m.: The new kitchen construction team will use a conveyor to move materials between the end of the Forest building and 40th Avenue NE every 30 minutes or so. No trucks will be present and there will be minimal noise from this work.
- Monday, Nov. 2 to Thursday, Nov. 5: A construction crane placed near the Emergency Department ambulance bay will be used to lift mechanical units into the Forest building. The work will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the crane may impact traffic slightly as it enters and exits 40th Avenue NE. There will be 2-3 parking spaces unavailable on the west side of 40th Avenue NE from Nov. 3 through Nov. 4. Minimal noise is expected as this work is completed.
- Tuesday, Nov. 17 and Friday, Nov. 20 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Cement will be pumped into level one of the Forest zone to create the floor for the new kitchen. A cement pump truck and cement truck will be present off 40th Avenue NE near the Forest building. There will be significant noise while the cement is pumped.
